We make sure all of your questions are answered and we tailor each session to what you need to pass. Not sure private tutoring is right for you? Sign up for one session to try it out!
We offer superior instruction by bar exam experts. Our bar exam tutors and teachers have scored in the top percentile on the bar exam. During a private tutoring session, we cover the highly tested and most difficult areas of substantive law. We also cover strategies so that you see your scores improve through practice (rather than answering a bunch of questions and having your scores stay the same!). We will teach a methodical approach to the MBE, MEE, and MPT so that you see improvement and increase your confidence.
We give you fantastic outlines that are precisely tailored to the MBE and MEE. We methodically go through the past 20 years’ worth of multistate essay exams and have formulated outlines that are precisely tailored to what is tested on the MEE. We also provide comprehensive outlines for the MBE. Many students say our outlines are “worth their weight in gold” and some students pay for tutoring for the primary reason of having access to well-organized, easy-to-learn, yet comprehensive outlines. (To read more about why our outlines are so good, and to see a sample of our MEE outlines, please see this post.)
We offer a study plan that is tailored to your needs and your schedule. We take into account all circumstances — i.e. past bar exam scores, whether you are working or have other obligations, and your comfort level with the material — to figure out the perfect study plan for you. If you meet with us for once-a-week New York Bar Exam tutoring, you will also receive a study plan and to-do list each week to ensure you are on track! The bar exam can be daunting and the amount of material is overwhelming. We break down the bar exam into its component pieces and provide you with manageable weekly to-do lists. We tell you exactly what to do so that you can focus on studying.
You will receive electronic copies of the MEE questions, MPT questions, and model answers promulgated by the National Conference of Bar Examiners from 2000 to the present date if you sign up for our full New York Bar Exam private tutoring program. We assign essays or MPTs after each private tutoring session. As part of our JD Advising private tutoring program, you will receive feedback on two essays (or one MPT) after each session. This feedback is given by the tutor and will help you maximize your score on the written portion of the New York Bar Exam.
EACH NEW YORK BAR EXAM TUTORING SESSION COMES WITH:
- Two hours of tutoring tailored to exactly what you need
- An outline and MEE questions for the subject(s) you covered
- Weekly to-do lists (if you sign up for 7+ sessions)
- Essays graded (2 essays or 1 MPT) after each session
Here is what our students are saying about us:
I passed the NY bar in February 2018 after having failed the July bar. The first time I sat for the exam, I used a traditional prep course and scored a 261. For February, I used JD Advising’s UBE outlines and one-on-one online tutoring with Ambika and scored a 292. My greatest challenge in prepping for February was balancing studying and working full-time at my firm, so my number one priority was efficiency. I found the UBE outlines from JD Advising to be concise, well-organized, and most importantly, efficient! The outlines contained charts and diagrams that I would have loved to seen in my traditional prep course books the first time. The main difference in materials was that the traditional prep course contained all the text and material I needed to know, but it didn’t present it in a useful way. JD Advising’s outlines are surprisingly short in page count, but the information is all there and it’s consolidated in a way that makes sense and is actually useful for the exam.
As great as the outlines were, I know that my scores in the MBE portion would not have gone up as much as they did without Ambika’s help. The outlines gave me the substantive knowledge but working through MBE questions with Ambika is what made it stick. She was able to pick up on my weaker areas and help me figure out why I couldn’t understand certain concepts. I think that was vital to my improvement. Based on my scores from the July exam, I had an idea of where I struggled, but I didn’t know how to tackle them. I could read answer explanations to practice questions by myself and think I understood the concepts, but Ambika would ask follow-ups to the questions that would make me realize I hadn’t connected all the dots yet. This extra step is what made it come together for me. I would definitely recommend JD Advising as a bar prep course. – February 2018 New York bar exam taker, increased score from a 261 to a 292
