Baby Bar Exam Statistics from Recent Years

Baby bar exam statistics are pretty dismal (but this does not mean you should lose hope of passing)!

As you can see below, the vast majority of students that take the baby bar exam do not pass it. Of the total applicants who took the baby bar exam in June 2018, only 19.3% of the 326 takers passed it according to the California state bar. What is the Baby Bar (a.k.a. the FYLSE)?

The “baby bar” is another name for the First-Year Law Students’ Examination (FYLSE). It is administered by the State Bar of California in both June and October. Not everyone has to take the baby bar exam! It is primarily administered to those who study law at unaccredited law schools (including online law schools). Note that some students who get into academic trouble at accredited law schools in California also have to take the baby bar to continue on in law school.
